Conquering Cross Fell - Strenuous - 15km (excluding Kirkland to Blencarn leg)
This is the jewel in the crown of the Blencarn and Kirkland area. The views from the top of Cross Fell are stunning but be warned, this route is definitely best enjoyed in good weather.
Culgaith Loop - Easy - 6.2km (option1) or 6.5km (option 2)
A mainly level walk across farmland and quiet country lanes.
This walk has fine views towards Cross Fell and doesn’t get too muddy even in wet weather.
Kirkland Circular - Moderate to hard - 6.2km (excluding from and to Blencarn)
This off road walk offers a taste of everything; Blencarn lake and its wildlife; a fellside track; wonderful views to the Lakeland Fells; the historical lime kilns, and some ancient woodland.
Milburn Meanderings - Moderate - 7.35km (returning from Wythwaite via the Rigg) or 7km to Kirkland, plus distance to Blencarn
The first part of this walk is along a quiet road to Milburn but take care especially during silage making as tractors can travel very fast. Milburn village is very picturesque and the route back to the top of the Rigg is varied with improved pasture and rather wet moorland.
Ranbeck Ramble - Moderate - 4.25km (excluding final leg from Kirkland)
The walk has splendid views towards Cross Fell. The walk passes by two farms; Ranbeck and Bank Hall and a visit to Kirkland Church is recommended.
